Career and activities:
Relevant in 2015/´16
Current commissioned work and independent work. Continuously extending photographic collection. Preparations for new editions and exhibitions are in the pipeline, and the entire relaunch of my own Web page www.thielcollection.de has now been completed.
2013
Independent adviser und publicist. Setting up my brand „Die Marke“ (advice in the topic of communication skills). New photographic image portfolios „100 Days with Robert Capa“, „Homeland/Heimat“, and „Intermezzo Color Spaces / Farbräume“. Comput of my complete photographic work covering 40 years – from 1973 to 2013 – with more than 74,000 photo shots. My first experiments with digital video production.
1999–2013
Head MarCom, marketing and corporate communication for international companies (OKI Systems, Düsseldorf/London; TA Triumph-Adler, Hamburg/Nürnberg). Individual photographic projects, cooperation with Vilim Vasata, Professor of Communication Design at University of Essen/Germany.
1989–1998
Literature Manager and Group Account Director for international advertising agencies (GGK, McCann-Erickson, Dentsu S+P – all in Düsseldorf/Germany).

My first experiments with „Lomography“ as a new approach to artistic photography.
1988/89
Self-employment as an independent journalist. Setting up my 24-hour press service, with photo studio, stock images, and monochrome lab in Düsseldorf.
Text and photo reports, e.g. for Diners Club Magazine, Impression, Der Spiegel, Rheinische Post, VDI Magazin, Forum Modernes Theater, Baumeister, Prisma. Establishing my private picture library (the later „www.thielcollection.de“)
1986–88
Acting as a press photographer and editor with IVB Report and BPI in Germany and around Europe. Regular text and image publishing by the entire daily, weekly, and magazine press in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
1984–86
Studying visual communication / graphic design at FH Düsseldorf (higher ed. inst.), and post as a trainee with International Press Agency, IVB Report (Int. Traffic News and Image Services), BPI (Image Press International), Düsseldorf.
